In the series The Office, we get to follow the fictional local office of Dunder Mifflin in Scranton Pennsylvania. A location probably chosen with some care by the production team, but more on that below.
What do we really know about Dunder Mifflin?
• It is a paper and office supplies wholesaler.
• Although the company is entirely made up, the Dunder Mifflin brand has later been commercialized and products with the brand are sold at Staples in the US, among others.
• The company has its own websites and social profiles.
• Scranton, where the show is set, has become known worldwide because of the series.
• The company is said to be based in New York with several branches in the northeastern United States, mainly the Scranton branch where the majority of the series takes place. Other branches mentioned or shown include Stamford, Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Albany.
The history of Dunder Mifflin
• The company must have been founded in 1949 by Robert Dunder and Robert Mifflin. • Originally sold materials to the construction industry, but switched to office products.
Dunder Mifflin is very pleased to present the Summer Weight Loss Initiative!
Each branch will compete to lose the most weight over the next seven weeks. Weigh-ins in the office will be carried out weekly and reported to head office by your staff representative.
At the end of the seven weeks, the branch that loses the most weight will WIN THREE EXTRA VACATION DAYS! Here at Dunder Mifflin, we think our employees are amazing just the way they are. However, studies show that a healthy lifestyle is likely to make you happier. Plus, your healthy lifestyle will help lower our insurance premiums, making the company happier. So we will all be doubly happy.
Dunder Mifflin congratulates you all on your healthy fresh starts and wishes you the best of luck for the next seven weeks of this competition.
Greetings,
Dunder Mifflin's Management.
